Issue/Introduction

  • The Status between NSX edge Tunnel Endpoint shows down
  • Migrating the edges to the same hosts brings tunnels up
  • Edge TEPs are on a separate subnet than the host transport node TEPs
  • The subnets of the edges and ESXi host TEPs are using the same VLAN

Cause

Edge VM TEP interface is connected to a vDS portgroup where that vDS is used by NSX-T

Resolution

When Edge VM TEP interface connected to a vDS portgroup where that vDS is used by NSX-T Edge TEP and ESXi host TEP must be on separate VLANs even if when on separate subnets
