Issue/Introduction

This article describes the details how app/service usage data is rentioned and accessed even after the organization has been deleted via CAPI.  

Resolution

Tanzu usage service is for accounting and audit use. The usage source is originally fetched from ccdb, but the processed output is stored in a separate database named app_usage_service. 

Even an organization has been deleted, until "TPCF > Advanced Features > Usage Service data retention period" expires, the stored data is still accessible via endpoints:

• https://app-usage.YOUR-SYSTEM-DOMAIN/organizations/YOUR-ORG-GUID/app_usages
• https://app-usage.YOUR-SYSTEM-DOMAIN/organizations/YOUR-ORG-GUID/service_usages

Before the organization being deleted, the usage data can be accessed by user which has either role:

• org manager
• org billing manager
• org auditor

After the organization being deleted, the usage data can still be accessed by system admin / audit user which is member of either

• cloud_controller.admin
• usage_service.audit
