Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • The Site Recovery UI shows the pair in a failed state with the following error:

"Unable to connect to Site Recovery Manager Server at https://hostname:443/drserver/vcdr/vmomi/sdk. Reason:java.net.ConnectException: Timeout connecting to [hostname/target_ip:443]"

  • Source Site Pair for SRM -- shows not connected when checked from vSphere Replication (DR UI).

  • Source Site Pair for SRM -- shows connected when checked from the SRM UI.

  • Source Site Pair for vSphere Replication -- shows connected from both SRM and vSphere Replication UI.

  • Target Site Pair for both SRM and vSphere Replication -- shows connected from both SRM and vSphere Replication UI.

Environment

  • vSphere Replication 8.x
  • vSphere Replication 9.x
  • Site Recovery Manager 8.x
  • Site Recovery Manager 9.x

Cause

  • The Source Site vSphere Replication appliance is unable to establish communication with the Target Site SRM appliance on port 443.
  • From the Source vSphere Replication appliance, a port test to the Target SRM appliance on port 443 fails, confirming the port is not open.

  • From the Target vSphere Replication appliance to the Source SRM appliance, port 443 is open, which is why the Site Pair for the Target DR UI appears healthy.

Resolution

Engage the network team to open port 443 from the Source vSphere Replication appliance to the Target SRM appliance.
