Issue/Introduction

• The NSX installation will fail with the following error in the NSX UI:

Failed to install software on host. Failed to retrieve existing vib components from host.
java.rmi.RemoteException: VI SDK invoke exception:javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: Certificate expired for 1.2.840.113549.1.9.1=##########,CN=####.##.#####,OU=####,O=###,L=###,ST=###,C=###

• In vCenter, on the affected transport node, you might observe the following ‘ESXi Host Certificate Status’ alarm.

 

Environment

Cause

The NSX installation will fail if the ESXi host certificate has expired.

Resolution

Validate and renew the ESXi host certificate, then install NSX from the NSX UI.
