Issue/Introduction

You are getting the alert "Host has lost connection to vCenter Server" from Aria Operations. However, while checking in the vCenter, these hosts are in connected state.

Below is an example of the triggered alert with symptom "Runtime|Connection State "disconnected" != "connected"

Environment

Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

  • Duplicated Host System objects found in Aria Operations.
  • One of the duplicated objects has a "not collecting" state in the Collection Status column.
  • The above object has a Property metric of "disconnected" in the Connection State.  Property metric doesn't get updated unless there is a change detected.

Resolution

  • Login to Aria Operations GUI as local admin
  • Go to Operations > Configurations > Inventory Management
  • Search for the ESXi host in question on the search filter.
  • Selected the duplicated host object that is in the "not collecting" state, and click "X" icon to delete it.

Once the duplicated host object is deleted, the host disconnect alert will no longer be triggering.
