Issue/Introduction
vCenter has ACI-integrated VDS configured, and all VMs/VDS are functioning normally. However, the connection between ACI and vCenter is disconnected. Will it impact the upgrade?
Environment
VMware vCenter Server 6.x
VMware vCenter Server 7.x
Resolution
The vCenter upgrade process itself does not require ACI to be connected. Hence, we can proceed with upgrading the vCenter.
VMs don’t depend on live ACI communication for runtime operation, the disconnection won’t block or break the upgrade as per the Cisco document https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/dcn/aci/apic/5x/virtualization-guide/cisco-aci-virtualization-guide-52x/ACI-Virtualization-Guide-52x-aci-with-vcenter-plugin.pdf
After the upgrade, you should check the ACI Plugin's compatibility has to be validated with the vendor before installation if you would like to continue using it.
