Issue/Introduction

• ESXi host restarts and hostd.log files indicate the following messages:
  
  • Error reading boot device type: N7HostCtl3Lib16HostCtlExceptionE(Hardware Query Error: Unable to get boot order from BIOS or operation not supported on this hardware. Not supported)
  • Event 85 : Host had been powered off. The poweroff was not the result of a kernel error, deliberate reboot, or shut down. This could indicate a hardware issue. Hardware may reboot abruptly due to power outages, faulty components, and heating issues. To investigate further, engage the hardware vendor.
• Continuous reboots can occur.

Cause

BIOS version is not compatible with ESXI build version.

Resolution
