Issue/Introduction

Why does the EDM profile size report 0.0 MB in the Enforce Console?

Environment

Symantec Data Loss Prevention (all versions)

Cause

The 0.0 EDM size is very common in the Enforce Console. The file size shown is the estimated average file size of all rdx files for that EDM, in MB.

Resolution

To check the rdx file sizes:

1. In the Enforce Console, navigate to Manage> Data Profiles > Exact Data > Hover your mouse over the name of the EDM. At the bottom of the screen you'll see the SourceID listed. For this example the id is 21.
   
   
   
   
2. On the Enforce Server, navigate to <Install Dir>\Symantec\DataLossPrevention\ServerPlatformCommon\<DLP Version>\index
3. Search for the EDM SourceID within the listed rdx file names.
   
   
   
4. DLP takes each rdx file, in MB, and then averages them together.
   Using this logic in the screenshot from step #3, even though each rdx file is a few KB's, DLP will report them each as 0MB, and the average together will show as 0.0 MB in the Enforce Console.
