Issue/Introduction

We are trying to restore some SMPE datasets from DMS archives and receive this error:

 

ADSDF102 4106 ADR971E (001)-FDSRL(04), LOGICAL RESTORE FOR CLUSTER data.set.name IN CATALOG SYS1.USERCAT.SYSTEM FAILED, 8

Resolution

Review the customers SYSPARMS and see if they are using the SMSALLOCN sysparm(default is Y). If this is the case, then execute the below JCL. You can also override the USEDSSIO to use everything *. The default value blank prevents Disk from using the DFSMSdss data mover and this will not allow allocation. Both volumes in this case have to be NONSMS as the original IBM message states above. When restoring they both need to be of the same NONSMS volumes
