Issue/Introduction

vCenter UI gives the following error: 

: [400] An error occurred while sending an authentication request to the vCenter Single Sign-On server - An error occurred when processing the metadata during vCenter Single Sign-On setup premature end of file

Environment

 

vCenter 8.x

VCF 5.x 

Cause

STS service not running

Resolution

1. Check if all vCenter services are up and running: 

      service-control --status --all

     2. start the STS Service

           service-control --start vmware-stsd

     3. reload the vCenter web UI
