Issue/Introduction
The Network Configuration Manager tool in Spectrum is not used in our environment. How can we disable it so it's not running or used, and to prevent it from consuming system resources?
How can we disable the NCM feature if not used?
Environment
All supported Network Observability DX NetOps Spectrum releases
Resolution
Prevent the ncmserv service from running.
If running stop it (can use cmdC), or stop processd which will stop it.
Once down remove the NCMSERV.idb file from the $SPECROOT/lib/SDPM/partslist/ directory.
If processd was stopped restart it. We should no longer see an ncmserv process get started.
Disable it from appearing in WebApp
After disabling the service, nothing under the NCM option in the WebApp will function properly.
If users click on it, even accidentally, they could see oddities that might raise questions.
We recommend removing the Network Configuration Manager privilege from all users after disabling the NCMSERV service.
Go to WebApp -> Navigation: Users tab -> Contents: Access tab -> Security Communities (select one) -> Component Detail: Privileges.
Using the Add/Remove button remove the overall Network Configuration Manager privilege to also disable everything under it.
