The message "The vSphere Distributed Switch configuration on some hosts differed from that of vCenter" is observed on vCenter and the option to reset to green is greyed out.

Issue/Introduction

• In vCenter > Networking > vDS > Monitor > All issues you see the warning: 
  "The vSphere Distributed Switch configuration on some hosts differed from that of the vCenter Server." 
• The option to reset to Green is greyed out. 

Environment

vSphere ESXi 7.x
vSphere ESXi 8.x
vSphere vCenter Server 7.x
vSphere vCenter Server 8.x

Cause

If the synchronization is lost between ESXi hosts and vCenter then there is the possibility of mismatched information between the list of ports on vCenter and the list on the hosts leading to out of sync condition for some of those ports. 

The warning message is expected behavior if the DVS is marked as out of sync. It will clear automatically once the out of sync issue is resolved. 

Resolution

For the warning message to clear, the out of sync issue on the DVS will need to be resolved.
