Issue/Introduction

Sample Report of all the archvols with the filled percentage less than 10 or any other given value if needed.

Resolution

The better way to obtain that, if Vantage is not available, is to use Datacom DBSQLPR when  FDB are used.

The distributed jcl CCUWJCL(DBQARV)  will create a report of all the existing archvols with many information,  including also the PTC 'Percent Used' .

Adding the following statement at the bottom of that member :

WHERE INTEGER(ARVPCTUS) <= 10;

to have:

...

ARVDSNAM as Archive_File_Name
     FROM CADISK.archvols_650
     WHERE INTEGER(ARVPCTUS) <= 10;

...

the result is a report of ONLY the archvols with PTC less equal to 10.

This value can be set as needed.

Just to be sure the number of the archvols obtained is correct, below a very useful KD :

MERGE PERCENT - How many Archive tapes are filled by which percentage?

which will produce an output looking like:

 Pct used                   COUNT(*)
  _______________________ ___________
  Pct used 00 - 09:             19073
  Pct used 10 - 19:              3404
  Pct used 20 - 29:              2996
  Pct used 30 - 39:              5601
  Pct used 40 - 49:              6415
  Pct used 50 - 59:              5561
  Pct used 60 - 69:              4902
  Pct used 70 - 79:              5263
  Pct used 80 - 89:              6461
  Pct used 90 -100:             42540
  Total number of tapes:     COUNT(*)
  _______________________ ___________
  Total number of tapes:       103095

So for PTC< 10,  the number in deck

 Pct used 00 - 09:             19073

can be compared with the report to see if the lines in the report are more or less equal to this number .

The 'Percent Used' of an Archive tape is calculated by IXMAINT and stored in field ARVPCTUS of the ARCHVOLS table, so it is better to run the report just after the IXMAINT execution to have more accurate results on this percentage.
