The uploaded upgrade package cannot be used with VMware vSphere Lifecycle Manager

Issue/Introduction

When importing the VSphere 8 ISO into the Lifecycle Manager on vCenter Server 7, you receive the message "The uploaded upgrade package cannot be used with VMware vSphere Lifecycle Manager."  

Environment

vCenter server 7.x

Cause

You can't create vCenter 8 baselines on a vCenter 7 server because the vCenter 7 environment does not support vCenter 8 features or versions.

Resolution

 To create vCenter 8 baselines, you must first upgrade your vCenter Server to version 8, which allows you to utilize the vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM) to manage ESXi hosts
