Issue/Introduction
AVI Controllers may generate recurring alerts for 'UACACHE_PULSE_CONN_FAILED_EVENT', with one event logged every hour
Description
UACache connection with PULSE Failed.
sec_mgr_ua_event_details
error: Failed to bootstrap UACache from Pulse: %v'Feature is not enabled.' 'Please opt-in/enable feature from Pulse settings page.'
Environment
VMware Avi Load Balancer 22.1.x without enterprise cloud tier licensing
Cause
This event is associated with the User-Agent Decision Component, a key part of the Bot Management feature.
This component requires:
An Enterprise with Cloud Services license
Controllers to be connected to Cloud Services
This module relies on constantly updated data regarding web browser behavior, retrieved from cloud services.
If Bot Management with the User-Agent Database is enabled and the Controllers are connected to Cloud Services but the required license(Enterprise With Cloud Tier) is not available, then the system fails the validation and logs the event UACACHE_PULSE_CONN_FAILED_EVENT on a periodic schedule
Resolution
Workaround:
Disable User Agent DB Sync for Bot Management
Navigate to Administration → Cloud Services → Edit Cloud Services and uncheck the feature 'User-Agent DB Sync'
This issue is fixed in AVI versions 30.2.x where we have added a built-in license pre-check that avoids triggering the alert unnecessarily.
