"An error occurred while mounting the ISO file. Verify if the device attached to the CDROM is a vCenter server ISO file" when navigating to the updates tab in vCenter UI

Issue/Introduction

• The following error message appears under updates tab vCenter UI after upgrading vCenter to version 8.x: 

Environment

vCenter Server 8.x

Cause

Navigating to the update planner triggers a workflow that automatically checks the VM's CD-ROM drive for a vCenter ISO. The absence of the ISO generates this specific error.

Resolution

Download and mount the vCenter Server Installer ISO (Eg. VMware-VCSA-all-8.0.3-25092719.iso) to the vCenter VM to proceed with the upgrade. This error can be ignored, if there are no plans to upgrade the vCenter Server. Refer the following documents for more information:
