Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 7.0.U2a
VMware NSX

Resolution

  • For workaround you can follow this KB article  -  https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/318690

  • This issue is resolved in ESXi 7.0 Update 2c. The change is to allow missing reserved VIBs when "esxcli software component apply/remove" is called. On NSX hosts upgrade, this process is called and may face this issue without this fix.
  • Once the ESXi host upgrade is completed to ESXi 7.0 Update 2c, follow the below steps on the host and NSX side.

- Reboot the problematic ESXi host
- Rolling reboot on the NSX managers nodes.
- Remove the host from maintenance mode and re-add it back to maintenance mode and re-try the upgrade process.
