Cause

Firefox no longer supports activex. It will not recognize it. ActiveX technology was developed by Microsoft in 1996.  ActiveX controls are browser plugins that provide additional functionality for Web browsers. Because of the security issues associated with ActiveX controls, they are not supported by most browsers except for Microsoft IE.

Resolution

Install the Internet Explorer browser, then test whether you can print.

If not, see if the activex file came down, then you can skip the first 2 steps. If it comes down it will probably be in your download folder. (It really doesn't matter where it goes, as long as change into the folder to register it)

Then you will have to the activex control to your pc and register it.  Administrative rights are required.

  1.  Copy the UOMWV_HelperActiveX.ocx file from the DVWeb server location (typically C:\Program Files\CA\UnicenterOutputManagementWebViewer\ActiveX)
  2.  Put it in the C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files\ folder on your pc.
  3.  Open a command prompt as administrator: Go to Start->right click on Command Prompt and click on run as administrator
  4.  Change into the C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files directory
  5.  Type this command to register the file:

regsvr32 ERMHelper2AX.ocx

If you do not have sufficient authority to do this, the ActiveX will have to be pushed out in a script from your helpdesk.
