MIssing Data when filtering past current month/cycle range using current view transformation value.

Issue/Introduction

An existing environment fitler dashboard view is showing only the current cycle of data, and can show null data when searching specific ranges of data in metrics views in Aria Operations 8.18.1.

Cause

There is a filter option under transformation showing current value in a view. There is a known bug in 8.18.0-1 that will not search backwards in fitler views, showing only the latest collection cycle.  See Summary view section Transformation for details on specific view options.VMware Aria Operations: Summary View

Transformation : 

• Determines what calculation method is applied on the raw data. You can select the type of transformation:
• Last. The last value of a metric within the selected time range.
  If you have selected Last as the transformation in versions before vRealize Operations 6.7, and the end of the specified time range is not before the last five minutes, use the Current transformation.
  Current. The last available value of a metric if it was last updated not before five collection cycles were complete, otherwise it is null.

 

Resolution

Temporary workaround is swap filter Transformation view from Current to Last. 

This is scheduled to be resolved in 8.18.2+
