Issue/Introduction

  • After migrating NSX-T transport nodes from NVDS to CVDS, the Network I/O Control (NIOC) profile option is no longer visible on the Transport Node Profile (TNP) or Host Configuration in NSX T UI.
  • NIOC configuration is not available when a host transport node is prepared using a VDS switch.

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

Expected behaviour post migrating to CVDS.

Resolution

As a host transport node that is prepared using VDS as the host switch, the NIOC profile can only be configured in vCenter Server.

Configure NIOC in VMware vCenter Server:

Log in to VMware vCenter Server.
Navigate to the Networking section.
Locate and select the specific vSphere Distributed Switch (VDS) that your NSX-T transport nodes are using.
Right-click on the selected VDS, then choose Actions → Settings → Edit Settings.
Within the VDS settings dialog, navigate to the Network I/O Control section.
Configure the NIOC settings as required to meet your network traffic prioritization needs.
