Issue/Introduction

When patching network infrastructure, errors are thrown on ESXi hosts:

  • Teaming configuration in the vSphere Distributed Switch on host does not match the physical switch configuration in. Detail: No loadbalance_ip teaming policy matches
  • Not all VLAN MTU settings on the external physical switch allow the vSphere Distributed Switch maximum MTU size packets to pass on the uplink port 15 in vSphere Distributed Switch on host.

Load balancing is set to:   Route based on originating virtual port

No EtherChannel, LACP, or SR-IOV.

DVS Health Check is enabled.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 7.x

VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x

VMware vCenter Server 7.x

VMware vCenter Server 8.x

Cause

DVS Health Check should not be enabled continuously.

Resolution

Disable DVS Health Check unless necessary.
