After upgrading a robot or hub in 23.4CU5, we get Max restarts for some probes.

Issue/Introduction

We upgraded the robot to 23.4.5 probe gets this error and nothing else in the probe.log or _probe.log. Controller says the probe started normally.

Controller: Max. restarts reached for probe '<probe name here>' (command = <startup java21>) 

 

Environment

23.4CU5

Cause

The robot failed to upgrade but the version file upgrades which causes IM to display the wrong version of the probe.
Robot 23.4.5 is required for use of java21. Older robot versions do not support java_jre21 v1.0.0.

Resolution

Re-deploy the robot.
