Issue/Introduction

Symptom:

  • While using the reprotect on the recovery plan, we get below error:

Error: Unable to reverse replication for the virtual machine "VM#####'. A generic error occurred in the vSphere Replication Management Server. Exception details: "Cannot apply policy to vSAN object 'eb917768-######-52a9-78ac440f7ed0' (status: 'failed", fault: InvalidArgument, message: Non vSAN Profile)'.

Environment

VMware Live Site Recovery

VMware vSphere vSAN

Cause

  • This error occurs because it is not possible to apply storage profiles without at least one vSAN rule to vSAN objects.

Resolution

  • Enable vSAN storage rule on the storage policy and then reconfigure the VM from SRM UI.

Steps to enable vSAN rule : Menu (hamburger option on the top left, on vCenter) > Select "Policies and Profiles" > Select VM Storage Policies > Select Edit (to apply already existing policy on the VM) > Enable rules for "vSAN" storage.
