Unable to add vSAN witness to stretched vSAN cluster in an Enhanced Linked Mode vCenter environment

Symptoms:

When trying to configure stretched vSAN cluster, during the "Select vSAN Witness host" step, the vSAN witness host is not visible for selection:
-
Only the vCenter where the vSAN cluster resides is visible.
-
The vCenter where the vSAN witness host is added/registered is not visible.
Environment
VMware vSAN 7.x
VMware vSAN 8.x
This article applies for environment where:
-
vCenters are in enhanced linked mode.
-
vSAN stretched cluster is deployed in vCenter A.
-
vSAN witness appliance is deployed and added/registered as a host to vCenter B.
Cause
The vSAN witness host must be managed by the same vCenter which manages the vSAN stretched cluster.
Resolution
-
Add the vSAN witness host to the same vCenter which manages the stretched vSAN cluster it will be a part of.

It should be added to the vCenter inventory under the Datacenter object, but not part of any vSphere Cluster.
