Issue/Introduction

  • Compliance Triggers not working properly
  • A series of compliance alerts were created that are triggered even after the vSphere admin remediated the issues. The alerts are still showing as failures aka false positives.
  • Example: a specific ESXi host is failing the check "ESXi.set-normal-lockdown-mode - The lockdown mode to restrict access to ESXi is not set to normal" even though there is evidence that this has been remediated.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

The vCenter adapter is not collecting current data from vCenter due to being configured with invalid credentials.

Resolution

  1. In the Aria Operations Product UI, navigate to Administration > Integrations
  2. Click the vertical three dots button next to the vCenter adapter and click Edit
  3. Update the collection credentials for the adapter
  4. Click Validate Connection
  5. Verify "Test connection successful" is received
  6. Click Save
