VCF Operations for Networks

Issue/Introduction

You may notice that some flows are missing in VCF Operations for Networks after changing the FQDN and/or the IP address of one or more ESXi host(s).

NOTE:  VCF Operations for Networks was formerly named Aria Operations for Networks (AON), and prior to that was named vRealize Network Insight (vRNI).

Environment

VCF Operations for Networks

Cause

If you are using NSX as a data source for the flows, it is necessary to review all NSX rules to make sure that wherever there was a reference to the old FQDN(s) and/or the IP address(es), they are changed to the corresponding new ones as appropriate.

Evidence can be found in the collector logs in the /var/log/arkin/collector/ folder by searching for events that contain the string:

There are no RTEPs present or no RTEP IP present in cache for tn

The data following the string should allow identification of the entities to check in NSX.

Resolution

Correct any NSX rules to substitute the new FQDN(s) and/or IP address(es) wherever the old FQDN(s) and/or IP address(es) were present before the changes were made.
