Question:
Culprit Profile CULXPROF needs to be changed. What CULPRIT modules need to be relinked to pick up new CULXPROF object when assembling CULMPROF?
Answer:
After installing IDMS, one of the customization steps is creating a CULPRIT profile module. This is accomplished with the use of the CULMPROF macro. Link the result into your IDMS custom load library as a stand-alone module named CULPPROF (CULXPROF at IDMS release 17.0). Culprit then dynamically loads this module at runtime.
Whenever making changes to the CULPRIT Profile CULXPROF macro; modules CULPRIT, CULP0, CULL, and CULE will need to be relinked to pick up the new CULXPROF object which is created when you assembled the CULMPROF macro. The link books names are LDLPRIT, LDLP0, LDLL, and LDLE respectively. There is a Product Error Alert Apar RI12947 stating the CULE and CULL link JCL are wrong in the install library and it documents where to locate the correct JCL.
RI12947 Title: VSE LINK BOOKS SUPPLIED FOR CULPRIT ARE INCOMPLETE
Product: IDMS Release: 17.0 Solution #: 232
***** Product Error Alert *****
VSE customers who try to relink phases CULL or CULE for release
17 should use the JCL from the ASMCULP section of the install job
JJOB3. Prior to release 17, JCL for relinking was supplied in the
SAMPJCL sublib. Because release 17 fixes are module replacement
PTFs which require relinking as part of the apply, the link books we
removed from SAMPJCL and added to the install library. Due to an error,
the link books for CULL and CULE were incomplete.
SYMPTOMS:
Culprit will abend in the CULL step and the CULE step with
operation and/or protection exceptions.
IMPACT:
Culprit jobs will not run successfully
CIRCUMVENTION:
Use the JCL from the ASMCULP portion of JJOB3 in the
Release 17 install.
