Issue/Introduction

An Adapter instance not receiving data alert is triggered in Aria Operations (formerly vRealize Operations).

The logs show a Failed to create the endpoint details error, which prevents the adapter from collecting data from multiple vCenter endpoints

This issue has been observed in Aria Operations Cloud Proxy servers running the Configuration Management adapter. The logs associated with the error are located at log/adapters/ConfigAdapter/ConfigAdapter_xxxx.log.

Log entries related to this issue include:

  • ERROR [Collector worker thread] com.vmware.adapter3.vcf.unifiedconfig.endpoint.VCenterEndpoint.createEndpoint - Failed to create the endpoint details

  • ERROR [Collector worker thread] com.vmware.adapter3.vcf.unifiedconfig.endpoint.VCenterEndpoint.createEndpoint - Failed to create the endpoint details for [vCenter-Server]

The Collection Status for the affected adapters remains None, even after manually stopping and starting the collection from the UI.

Environment

Aria 8.18.x

Resolution

The recommended solution to resolve this issue is to put the cluster offline and then back online via the Aria Operations UI.

  1. Take the cluster offline.

  2. Wait for the status to update.

  3. Bring the cluster back online.
