Issue/Introduction

  • When setting up an offline depot for VMware Cloud Foundation using Windows IIS (Internet Information Services), accessing the .sig file via a web browser URL results in a 404 error.
  • The logs in /var/log/vmware/vcf/lcm/lcm-debug.log will display the following error:

"Got http error[404] while downloading Pvc Signature ..."

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 5.x
VMware Cloud Foundation 4.x

Resolution

Configure Windows IIS to serve .sig files with the MIME type application/octet-stream.

To do so, follow the steps below.

  1. Log into the IIS hosting server as an administrator.
  2. Click Start > Windows System > Windows Administrative Tools
  3. In Administrative Tools, double-click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
  4. Click the server name and click MIME Types
  5. In the Actions menu on the right hand side, click Add..
  6. Enter the file extension and MIME type, then click OK.
    File name extension:.ova
    MIME Type: application/x-virtualbox-ova
  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 with the OVF extension:
    File name extension:.ovf
    MIME Type: application/vmware
  8. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the ISO extension:
    File name extension:.iso
    MIME Type: application/octet-stream
  9. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the SIG extension:
    File name extension:.sig
    MIME Type: application/octet-stream
  10. They should now be located in the MIME list
