Issue/Introduction

• Deployment of VM/VM template fails on specific datastore
• Based on /var/run/log/hostd.log from ESXi Host

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 7.0.x

VMware vSphere ESXi 8.0.x

VMware vCenter Server 7.0.x

VMware vCenter Server 8.0.x

Cause

The datastore volume is in unmounted state. The device is administratively enabled but remains unattached, preventing the Config Store settings from updating without manual intervention.

 

Resolution

• To remediate the issue, remount the datastore
