Issue/Introduction

  • In vCloud director Provider Portal under Infrastructure Resources > vCenter Server Instances > the vCenter Server Instance will show up as disconnected.
  • In vCloud Director the Provider Datacenter will not allow any activities or operations to complete because vCenter is disconnected.

Environment

Cause

After performing SSL renew using vCert - expired certificate replacement script SSL certificate is mismatched in vcd and needs to be reconnected to allow for a new certificate to be found in cloud director.

Resolution

  1. Connect to VMware Cloud Director provider portal
  2. Select Infrastructure Resources > vCenter Server Instances > <vCenter Server Instance> > General > Edit.Provide Credentials for the vCenter server and select Save
  3. A pop up message will display showing a new ssl certificate is discovered, confirm the ssl certificate and continue.
  4. vCenter will now reconnect with the new ssl certificate.
  5. Refresh the connection to allow for the vCenter to show up as connected in Provider UI under Infrastructure Resources > vCenter Server Instances.
