SiteMinder Policy Server components Startup failing after Linux patching activity.

Issue/Introduction

A SiteMinder environment containing multiple components inlcuding SiteMinder Policy Servers, DSA instances, Access Gateway Servers, and a CA API Gateway.

After the Linux patching activity, starting the SiteMinder environment fails, and application access fails.

Environment

Component: SMPLC : SITEMINDER - POLICY SERVER
Environment: Applicable to all the supported releases.

 

Cause

The startup sequence should be appropriate for endpoint to work properly like agents.

Resolution

Here is the start-up sequence when you have below components in the SiteMinder environment involved.

SiteMinder Policy Servers , DSA instances(Policy Store) , Access Gateway Servers and CA API Gateway.

1. Start all the Policy store instances and Session Store instances

2. Start all the Policy servers

3. Start All Agent components(Access Gateways and Webagents and logon servers)

4. Start All the CA API Gateway server services.
