When migrating virtual machines by using vSphere vMotion from a Tintri NFSv4.1 datastore, the ESXi host might unexpectedly fail with a Purple Screen of Diagnosis (PSOD).
This issue occurs due to the way Tintri NFSv4.1 servers handle NULL values in certain scenarios.
VMware vSphere ESXi 8.0
Tintri NFSv4.1 datastores
The issue is triggered by Tintri NFSv4.1 servers handling NULL values in specific conditions during VM migration.
This leads to an unexpected failure in the ESXi kernel, causing a purple diagnostic screen.
This issue is resolved in vSphere ESXi 8.0 Update 3g.
Upgrade to this release or later to avoid ESXi host failures during VM migrations involving Tintri NFSv4.1 datastores.
This issue is specific to Tintri NFSv4.1 datastores and does not affect other storage vendors.
Refer to the VMware vSphere 8.0 Update 3g Release Notes for details.
