VCF Operations/Automation (formerly VMware Aria Suite)

Issue/Introduction

When editing a view in vROPS, when trying to filter different appliances using the filter Summary|config|Product Name we get the error message "not found."

Environment

Aria Operations 8.x.

Cause

When editing a View, Report or Dashboard and attempt to add metrics or properties, the system defaults to using the first item present in the preview source list on the right side of the UI.

The object selected (the default VM object) does not have the Product Name metric as this metric/property only exists on VMware Application VMs, like vCenter, Aria Operations, NSX, etc..

Resolution

You must select a representative VM using the object picker () in the UI:

Selecting a vApp in your VM intentory to populate typical representative objects in the vCenter using the object picker icon:

We can then apply a filter for something like Aria to populate this list with a vApp VM which has the property Summary|config|Product Name.
