Issue/Introduction
Within the Datacom/AD MUF task, seeing the following messages:
DB01709I - EXTEND SIZE aaannnn CYL 1 - AREA FULL - JCL CYL 1
IEC030I B37-04
DB01702I - DYNAMIC EXTEND OF AREA aaannnn HAS FAILED
This file, HLQ.aaannnn, is in 16 extents.
Environment
Release: 12.0, 12.1
Component: WA CA 7 Edition
Cause
The error: DB01702I - DYNAMIC EXTEND OF AREA aaannnn HAS FAILED in the MUF log indicates that the maximum number of extents (16) for a Datacom EXCP data set are taken on the volume.
Resolution
To address the issue with the failure of DYNAMIC EXTEND of Area, use the Online Area Mov (OAM) process.
This is the preferred way for Datacom to enlarge the AREA aaannnn file.
The OAM process can be run while the CA7ONL is up and can be used for enlarging any of the areas ( AWH,AWL,AWS,DFS,HIL,HIS,IXX,JOB,MIN).
Refer to the attached KB article to enlarge the AREA aaannnn file using the OAM process.
