Incremental backup failed in VMware Tanzu for MySQL v10.0.0

Issue/Introduction

The customer has enabled the incremental backup feature. But they are not able to see the backup file in the S3.

Reviewed binlog-collector.stderr.log, you will see below error message - 

time=2025-08-26T05:28:52.765Z level=ERROR msg="archiver failed during run" component=binlog-collector error="encryptedBlobstore Get: failed to download \"pcf-backup-files/uat/mysql/p.mysql/service-instance_####/binlogs/archive-state\": MissingRegion: could not find region configuration"

Environment

VMware Tanzu for MySQL v10.x backup with S3.

Cause

adbr sets a default region in the job template, but that's missing from binlog-collector, which simply plumbs through the user configuration. That defaulting behavior should probably be pushed down into the blobstore library for consistency.

 

Resolution

Suggested customer to configure the Region in Mysql tile and Apply Change on the Mysql Tile with Upgrade all service instance errand to workaround it.

The bug for region issue in AWS S3 backup most likely this should get fixed in the upcoming VMware Tanzu for MySQL release in October.
