Issue/Introduction

This article outlines the steps for exporting historical performance statistics of Virtual Machines and ESXi hosts via the vCenter UI.

Resolution

Follow the below steps : 

ESXi

  1. Navigate to the ESXi host for which the data needs to be exported.

  2. Go to the Monitor tab.

  3. Under Performance > Overview, select the desired time period.

  4. For the relevant resource type, click the hamburger menu. (refer below image)


  5. Select the appropriate export type from the available options.


Virtual Machine

  1. Navigate to the Virtual Machine for which the data needs to be exported.

  2. Go to the Monitor tab.

  3. Under Performance > Overview, select the desired time period.

  4. For the relevant resource type, click the hamburger menu. (refer below image)

  5. Select the appropriate export type from the available options.



Note: Advanced performance data can also be exported in a similar manner by navigating to the Advanced section under the Performance tab and adjusting the filters as needed.

Additional Information

esxtop does not support exporting historical performance data. It is a command-line tool designed for viewing real-time performance metrics and can output that data to a .csv file when run in batch mode.
