VCF Operations for Networks

Issue/Introduction

  • On the UI, Settings -> Data source, no flows are seen:

  • On the NSX Manager UI -> Plan & Troubleshoot -> IPFIX -> Collectors, you confirmed that the collector is added.
  • The following snippets are seen in the /var/log/arkin/collector/collector.STDOUT-xxxx-xx-xx-xx.xx.xx.log:

    2026-03-23T07:29:10.113Z ERROR dataprovider.utils.HttpUtils NSXT_xx.xxxx.xxx.21_Config_OpMgr-0 checkCodeAndThrow:53 Could not get response for /api/session/create, status 403
    2026-03-23T07:29:10.113Z ERROR dataprovider.utils.HttpUtils NSXT_xx.xxxx.xxx.21__Config_OpMgr-0 checkStatusAndThrow:41 API /api/session/create error response {"module_name":"common-service","error_message":"Authentication Failed: Account is temporarily locked","error_code":98}
    2026-03-23T07:29:10.113Z WARN common.utils.CommonUtils NSXT_xx.xxxx.xxx.21__Config_OpMgr-0 logException:2678 Exception occurred while getting access token for dpId = NSXT_xx.xxxx.xxx.21.

Environment

VCF Operations for Networks

Cause

The NSX Manager was added with a user permission different from the "enterprise_admin, network_engineer, or security_engineer" roles, which is required for IPFIX.

Resolution

  • Change the user role permissions on the NSX Manager UI -> System -> User Management -> User Role Assignment to following permissions "enterprise_admin, network_engineer, or security_engineer".
  • Edit the NSX-T data source on the VCF Operations for Networks UI, ensure the collector profile selected is correct, add the User with required permission and 'Save' the configuration.
  • Toggle OFF the data collection and wait for some time and toggle ON.
  • The flows should start to populate the environment (reference image below)
