Telegraf Agents Stuck at “Install in Progress” on Linux Servers

Issue/Introduction

On some Linux servers, Telegraf agents remained stuck in the “install in progress” state.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.18.x

Cause

The issue was traced to two main reasons:

1. Credential issues on affected servers, which prevented the installation.

2. One VM was running RedHat 6.10, which is not a supported for OS and Application Monitoring.

Resolution

• Update the credentials for the affected servers to allow the Telegraf agent installation to complete.

• Use only operating systems that are officially supported.
