Issue/Introduction

  • This article lists the various service accounts which are used by Site Recovery Manager and vSphere Replication.

  • These accounts are required by the product and not removable.

  • These accounts should not be modified and should not be considered as a user account for which the credentials can be managed or rotated.

Resolution

SRM-UID
  • This is the local service account for Site Recovery Manager.
  • Site Recovery Manager creates a service account during the installation and uses it during the authentication with vCenter Server.
  • Site Recovery Manager uses service account authentication to establish a secure communication to remote services, such as the vCenter Server.
  • The service account is for internal use by Site Recovery Manager, vCenter Server, and vCenter Single Sign-On.
SRM-remote-UID
  • This is the remote service account for Site Recovery Manager.
  • When you pair Site Recovery Manager instances across vCenter Single Sign-On sites that do not use Enhanced Linked Mode, Site Recovery Manager creates an additional service account for the remote site at each site.
  • This service account for the remote site allows the Site Recovery Manager Server at the remote site to authenticate to services on the local site.
com.vmware.vr-UID
  • This is the solution user account created for functioning of vSphere Replication.
  • It is created with the vSphere Replication appliance is registered to the vCenter.
  • This solution user account is created within the vCenter Server's SSO domain.
