Issue/Introduction

Event-based alerts in Aria Operations are not being cancelled, even though the issue has already been resolved on the vCenter side.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

Event-based alerts in Aria Operations remain active because the cancellation event from vCenter is not received or processed correctly.

Resolution

If the issue is already resolved in vCenter but the alert continues to appear as active in Aria Operations, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Global Settings > Data Retention.

  2. Set the value for 'External Event Based Active Symptoms' to 10 (minimum value).

Note:

  • This setting (default: 10 days) controls cancellation, not deletion, of external event-based active symptoms.

  • Once cancelled, these symptoms are later deleted from the database by another global retention setting (default: 45 days).

If the issue persists even after applying the above setting, please open a Support Request with Broadcom Technical Support and note this Article ID (408492) in the problem description. For more information, see Creating and managing Broadcom support cases.
