Issue/Introduction

A deployment attempt from an existing catalog item fails because a required customization specification does not exist in vCenter.

Deployment fails with the error: customization specification with name <spec_name> was not found

Environment

VMware Aria Automation 8.x

Cause

The customization specification referenced by the deployment is missing in vCenter.

Resolution

  1. Log in to the vCenter Server where the deployment is being executed.
  2. Navigate to Policies and Profiles > Customization Specifications.

  3. Verify if the required customization specification exists (example: <spec_name>).

  4. If it does not exist:

    1. Create a new customization specification with the required name and settings.

  5. Retry the deployment.

Additional Information

  • Ensure naming consistency between the catalog item and customization specifications.
  • Customization specifications are case-sensitive.
  • If using multiple templates, verify each one has the required specifications.
