Issue/Introduction

AWS Dashboard "Savings Plan Dashboard" is displaying a percentage that's higher than expected for Last Month's Effective EC2 Discount Rate despite having mostly On-Demand spend and mininal RI/SP spend. 

Resolution

The Last Month's Effective EC2 Discount Rate is based off the previous month's usage of only Reserved Instance / Savings Plan usage. 

 

This field does not take On-Demand spend into account. 

 

Example: If tenant has 98% On-Demand Usage and 2% Convertible and Standard RI Usage, the Last Month's Effective EC2 Discount Rate will only be based off the 2% of RI Usage.
