Image package is not replicating to one or more assigned Package Servers

Issue/Introduction

After capturing an image using Deployment Solution and Ghost, it may be noticed that the image package is not being replicated to one or more assigned Package Servers.

The source Package Server for the image (package owner) has the complete image and is publishing all of it's codebases.

Image management shows the package assigned to all Package Servers.

Package Servers that weren't used for the capture show the Image package in the Package Server UI with the correct size and location. However, the cache folder where the image is stored is empty.

If an integrity check is performed for the image package on a Package Server without the image, the integrity check completes immediately with no download retries.

Package server logs for affected package servers may show the following repeating or similar log messages:

GetUpdateList: Received/existing snapshot is in legacy format. Request the latest snapshot with security information from NS directly.

Cause

In at least one instance of this issue, it was discovered that Package Servers that couldn't download the image from the package source had proxy settings configured in the OS which prevented downloads from the package owner Site Server.

Even though the Site Server was reachable by UNC and was pingable, local proxy settings in OS prevented package downloads.

It is unclear why affected site servers were able to download the package snapshot but not the Image. Package snapshots were also not found on the Notification Server.

Resolution

To resolve this issue when the specific cause has been verified as the same, clear the Proxy settings from the affected Package Server OS or match the Proxy settings to a Package Server unaffected by image download issues.
