vCenter HA alert "Appliance configuration is out of sync"

Issue/Introduction

• The vCenter HA tab shows the alert "Appliance configuration is out of sync.":

• The vCenter HA state appears as "Degraded".

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 7.x

VMware vCenter Server 8.x

Resolution

To resolve this issue, the VCHA configuration will need to be removed and recreated:

1. Remove the VCHA configuration:

• • To remove the VCHA configuration from the UI, please refer to Remove a vCenter HA Configuration
  • To remove the VCHA configuration from the command line, please refer to Resolving Failover Failures

     2. Recreate the VCHA configuration:

• • Please refer to Configure vCenter HA With the vSphere Client

• VCHA configuration reports failure with error: vCenter HA appliance out of sync
• To remove the VCHA configuration from the command line in case where the UI is inaccessible: 
  1.Login to VCSA Active node and make sure the vmware-vcha service is down before we execute the command to destroy: vcha-destroy -f
  2.Reboot the Active nodes post this and power off the passive and Witness nodes.
