Issue/Introduction

• When installing Ubuntu 24.04.2/24.04.3/25.04/25.10 Desktop on a VM with an LSI Logic SAS boot disk in ESXi, the Subiquity installer crashes due to an sfdisk command failure.
• The following error appears in the Ubuntu installer log:
  Failed to add #1 partition: Numerical result out of range
['sfdisk', '--no-reread', '/dev/sda', '--no-tell-kernel']

Resolution

Create the VM with either a PVSCSI or NVMe disk controller instead of LSI Logic SAS.
