When attempting to log in to VMware Identity Manager (VIDM), the authentication flow is redirected to the configured external Identity Provider (IdP). However, instead of presenting a list of available domains for selection, the login page directly redirects without displaying the option to choose among domains.
This behavior may create confusion for administrators or users expecting to manually select their domain at the login prompt.
VMware Identity Manager (VIDM) 3.3.7
The rendering of the login page, including whether or not domain selection options are displayed, is governed entirely by the configuration of the external Identity Provider.
VIDM itself only facilitates redirection to the IdP during the authentication flow—it does not control or influence how the IdP presents the domain selection page or login options to the user.
Since VIDM does not manage the design or behavior of the landing page after redirection, any changes to enable domain selection must be performed on the Identity Provider’s side.
To resolve this:
Note: VMware Identity Manager will continue to redirect users according to the IdP configuration. Domain selection functionality is solely dependent on the IdP setup and cannot be enabled or managed directly within VIDM.
