GIM44336S when attempting to Register Portable Software Instance in z/OSMF

Issue/Introduction

You are in the process of receiving your first order into z/OSMF.   While running the first package receive job, you received the following GIM44336S error. 

GIM44336S ** AN UNUSUAL CONDITION OCCURRED. GIMJVGET - java.net.SocketException: Connection reset

Resolution

Add rule into the firewall for rdownloads.broadcom.com.

 

Update the CLIENT XML as needed, specifying the following CLIENT XML attributes that you use in other SMP/E jobs to download software products or PTFs from the Broadcom download servers. For example:

Refer to the information provided on how to Acquire a z/OSMF Portable Software Instance...in particular the sections "Register Portable Software Instance in z/OSMF" and 
"Prepare for Secure Internet Delivery".

 

Additionally it may be necessary to add HTTPPROXY information if required in your environment.
