Issue/Introduction

In October, 2025, Microsoft will end support for Windows 10 and will no longer make updates for that operating system available, with the exception of extended security updates, which can be purchased on a subscription basis from Microsoft.

Extended security updates for Windows 10 will not be included in the standard Windows patch management data feed that is part of IT Management Suite and Client Management Suite.  This means that the standard Windows patch management data feed will not identify extended security updates applicable to devices running that operating system.

Resolution

Extended security updates for Windows 10 will be included in an enhanced Windows patch management data feed available from Broadcom at an additional cost.

The enhanced Windows patch management data feed for Windows 10 can be used to identify extended security updates applicable to Windows Server 10 devices, install such updates and report on compliance regarding those updates.

In order to use IT Management Suite or Client Management Suite to distribute extended security updates for Windows 10, you must purchase an extended security update subscription for each device from Microsoft.  In addition, you must purchase extended patch management support from Broadcom.  While Microsoft's support is priced on a per device basis, Broadcom's extended support is priced on a per customer basis.  The number of Windows 10 devices is not relevant for purposes of extended support from Broadcom.

As an alternative, customers of IT Management Suite, Server and Client Management Suite can use the Managed Software Delivery functionality as a workaround to install Windows 10 extended support updates obtained from Microsoft.
