Issue/Introduction

VC IfXTablewithFortinetSpeedMib does not have enterprise specific OIDs set to IsKey=True

The Interface Metric Family (MF) contains the "Interface with Fortinet Speed" named Vendor Certification (VC).

It is being used by non-Fortinet devices.

Fortinet devices that fail to respond to the enterprise specific OIDs in the VC are missing data. This is related to enabling the ADVPN functionality on the Fortinet devices.

Environment

All supported Network Observability DX NetOps Performance Management releases

Cause

The "Interface with Fortinet Speed" named VC (Internal Name: IfXTablewithFortinetSpeedMib) does not have enterprise specific OIDs set to IsKey=True.

As a result any device supporting the other ifTable OIDs will support it incorrectly, whether the device is a Fortinet device or not.

Resolution

A few options exist to resolve this.

  • Ensure the VC is low in the VC Priority list. This will ensure more appropriate VCs are used by other vendor devices.
  • Extend the VC to add IsKey=True to the Fortinet specific enterprise OIDs.

Additional Information

Defect DE174690 was submitted to resolve the OOTB VC missing IsKey=True for enterprise specific OIDs. Watch the Fixed Issues documentation for a release that contains the fix.
